about

Shh is a poem from a larger work entitled "Gossip with a Little Southern Accent".

lyrics

Shh!

The night has come and a stranger is among the first to see
The rage within the souls of all the children of the bleeding, broken, undefined;
Saddened by the twisted loss of time.
The ones who would defy
Now dressed in tattered rags and counted last in line.
It is for these that I have cried.
Indeed I did I tried.
But deep inside I dared to utter why? Oh why was I not one?

Is there a reason why your time has never come!
A faction missing one?
Perhaps you never cared to worry, never dared to think or be concerned,
Or is the canker which you drink the only place you have to turn?
Should you decide to pass this way, be sure to come alone
For the night is never very long for travelers seeking justice
On the road from which they’ve come.
Could you be one?

Could the whispers, or the creaking or the voices be the sound you have been seeking?
A distant cry heard late at night; a silent, sudden motion from the corner of your eye
Detects the passion in a moment now remembered left to die.
Confront the image on the wall, fear not the moment when you fall.
Take what life has once denied now breathe in deep and cleanse the lie.
Just spread your wings and you will fly but to the ground is all….

J Gatti Miami, Florida

I love the versatility of words. They are capable of being art alone or accompanying music, dance, paintings or any form of art. They can heal or be kind; bring joy, understanding or enlighten. There is the spoken word or the written word. I believe my work is to be heard. I want the opportunity to expand my artist point of view. I want to work with others who create and motivate. ... more
